A past boyfriend and I met through an online site kind of like Facebook, called MyYearbook. After stumbling across his page and finding interest in his being, I sent him a message with the line “How much does a polar bear weigh? Enough to break the ice!” and that was our first contact. We quickly gathered nicknames for each other, I called him Huckleberry and he called me Beautifly. For this reason, butterflies always remind me of him.
I often feel that he was the one that got away. I ended the relationship out of insecurity with myself. My Crohn’s was at its peak and I began to push everyone away. I regret it often. I compare everyone I meet to him, and almost no one seems measure.
We stayed friends and he met a new lady. Our communication with each other slowly dissipated. I told him once of my honest feelings, and he replied that he wished he was in a place to give me another try.
A week ago he deactivated his Facebook, the only communication I have with him.
